April 29
Today I went to the City Agriculture’s Office to check if the head of Task Force Bog lake is already present and unfortunately he was not there and so I was asked to come back the next day.
I then, went to the DOLE Office at Veterans Avenue. To my surprise, the building was closed and so I looked for people to ask why it was closed then I saw a sign in an adjacent building that had “DOLE” written on it. I went up to the building and interviewed Mr. Foncardas from NCMB and found out that the Regional Office was transferred to Tumaga.
I then went to the Regional Office after playing search with the tricycle driver who also did not know where the office is exactly located. We even asked directions from security guards.
When I got into the office, I looked for Dir. Centi, head of the steering committee for the event but I was forwarded to Miss Sinco, the information officer. She then gave me copies of the program and flyers. And she also answered my queries.
With my searches today, I can say that on line search is Standard Operational Procedure. With my searches on the net, I was able to take hold of names that were essential in my article.
“Location searching” is always a first for me because I have never been familiar with government offices in the City. And so I find it important to familiarize locations, however I am still lost in finding means to solve this problem. I’m still stuck with relying to tricycle rides.
Another added learning is to always ask for referrals and gather more information than you need. I have been saying this for weeks now but I do so because I feel it is critical to remind myself of its significance.
April 30
Today I went back to the City Agriculture’s Office and to my dismay, the information they have is only on the lineation of the area and not on the bio systems present in the lake. Accordingly, neither City Agriculture nor the City Environment has conducted such study.
However, I learned that making friends with security guards pay. They can come very helpful in information gathering even when in difficult times. In my case, there was a meeting when I arrived at the office but the guard who was already familiar with me still heeded my need. And so I was able to confirm that there was no useful information from their office that saved me from asking my boss to extend yet again for my article.
My greatest difficulty for the day was gathering additional information for the Bog lake article. With all my going back and forth, only to find out that there really was no valuable information in their grasp. With this I can say that it is best to “expect for the worst.” I should have just published my article last week when it was closer to earth day.
May 1
Today I went to the WMSU Gym to take some pictures of the Labor Day Celebration. It is my first time to witness “Jobs Fair” and I must say it is a good avenue for generating jobs to jobseekers and displaced workers. Being present in that affair made me realize that somehow people (the government) are doing something to help other people after all.
As for the pictures, I can attest that wide angle shots help establish a sense of volume for the desired picture.

Reyes: Week 1 at FAME, Inc.
A. List down all the tasks that you performed during this period. Describe each in detail.
DAY 1 – I was able to make friends with my co-workers in the production department. I came too early that is why I was given the chance to talk with Mike, an early bird like me. He introduced me to all my co-workers and I was really welcomed. My supervisor, Ms. Lucci Coral, was in Laguna for a photoshoot of ancestral homes. Since she wasn’t around, she just sent me a message for my first task. She asked me to do a research on Chef Sau of Discovery Shores. It is for a Zen Health article. I was told to use her computer. I was informed by my co-workers that the server is down. I sent her a text message saying the server is down and asked her what time she needs the said research. She told me that there is no time frame. I said I will get on it the moment the server is okay. She asked me to meanwhile browse four of the company’s magazines: Health and Lifestyle, DiabetEASE, Zen Health and Travel Plus to get a feel of how their works. Afternoon came and the server was still down. I have read about six of their magazines, specifically the write-ups of my supervisor and my co-workers in the production department. Finally, late afternoon, the server was good. I turned on her computer and started working. I started typing in keywords on Chef Sau of Discovery Shores. But then, I was confused because the results were divided into Chef Sau del Rosario and a Chef Sau Restaurant. To keep myself from guessing, I sent a message to my supervisor to confirm. She was referring to Chef Sau del Rosario of Discovery Shores. Unfortunately, not much of the results helped. So I decided to separate them: Chef Sau del Rosario and Discovery Shores. Results came up and there were a lot. I started reading and separating a useful information from the useless ones. Whenever I find a useful information, I copy paste them in MS Word with the link. I have copy pasted at least fifteen and then I saved them as a draft on my e-mail. It was almost five in the afternoon when I have finished sorting them all out. I turned off the computer and at about 5:15 in the afternoon, I said goodbye to my co-workers and went home.
DAY 2 – Ms. Lucci asked me about my research on Chef Sau and I told her how it went. It was set aside. I was given a new task: to transcribe. She sent me a file on my e-mail. It is an audio file of an interview with Ms. Patis Tesoro for an article she would be working with. I was asked to work on Ms. Jenny’s computer, who wasn’t around for the week. As I was downloading the file, Ms. Lucci came to me to see if I’ve been working on it already. She found out it has 59 minutes more to go before I could get the file she sent in my e-mail. So she borrowed a USB from my co-worker, copy-pasted the file on her laptop and then, gave the USB to me. The audio file won't play. So finally, she had me working on her laptop. I thought it was an easy task. But as I was listening to the interview, it was no easy job. There were words pronounced way too fast, like "Katutubong Pilipino". I wasn't even sure if I got it right so I had the text in bold to check on it later. And then there were phrases that need not to be transcribed, like five “Uhm’s”. There were dogs barking so I do not know what was said during the barks. It was a challenge. I triple checked it to be sure! The words/phrases in bold was repeated about or more than ten times to make sure I got it right. After transcribing, which by the way took about four hours or so, I was given a take-home assignment. I was asked to write a 500-word article on Edsa Garden House. Pictures on that place were sent on my e-mail and a brochure was given to me. At about 5:30 PM, I went home. By the way, sometime in the afternoon, I was asked my supervisor if I would like to model for their upcoming magazine this May, Hannah Montana. I said yes.
DAY 3 – I already sent my article on Ms. Lucci’s e-mail yesterday, April 27. I was asked to write an article on Chef Sau del Rosario’s Healthy Cooking. The only information I have are the ones from the internet, the ones I have researched. I was given a calling card of the said Chef. I was told to call him via telephone or cell phone. I had to ask for his recipe on Chilled Soba. Also, I have to ask for his curriculum vitae. And then, if he has free time, I have to ask questions to fill the missing pieces of my article via e-mail. I started reading my research again and again and again until I finally started to write. For about three long hours, I was able to write two paragraphs. Our entire afternoon was spent for our photo shoot for our company's soon-to-launched magazine, Hannah Montana. Fun is an understatement if asked to describe how it was. It was SMASHING! After the shoot, I was back to being an intern and was asked to do a product list of all that we have used.
DAY 4 – I continued my write-up on Chef Sau. I started thinking of questions to ask him and had them checked by Ms. Lucci.
DAY 5 –I called Chef Sau del Rosario. I first greeted him a good morning, said my name and informed him I’m an intern for Zen Health magazine. I then told him that we are going to do an article on him on healthy cooking. I asked for his curriculum vitae, his recipe on Chilled Soba and then I asked him if it’s okay to ask about five questions to complete my write-up. He asked me to e-mail him all those and then he’d get back to me. With the help of my supervisor, I e-mailed him everything that I need from him using the company’s e-mail address.
DAY 6 – I was asked to do filing. I was given a stack of papers. I am to file them into different envelopes. The ones I feel are trash are later checked if they are really trash, and they are to be thrown in the trash can just below Ms. Lucci’s table.
DAY 7 – I called Chef Sau to follow up. He said he’s in Boracay and he will get to it as soon as he gets back. I was asked to copy and look for a number for the pull out of outfits for Ara Mina’s photoshoot this Wednesday. I went looking for Topshop’s contact number in the internet and went to copy some numbers from my supervisor’s cell phone. She taught me what to say when calling for a request to pull out clothes. Since one of the requirements to be able to pull out clothes is a letter via fax, I was taught how to make a letter for them. She asked me to print them. She signed the letter and made me fax it. She demonstrated it to me at first and let me do the rest. Finally, I know how to fax! I faxed a few letters. Ms. Lucci also asked me to remind her from time to time to follow up some calls and I did so.
B. Describe new skills you learned, or skills you improved upon as a result of these tasks. Be specific.
For this week, I have learned how to fit with the team. I have formed friendships. I am acquainted with my co-workers and in the middle of our work, they would sometimes make some noise and we’d laugh our hearts out. I have learned a great deal of discipline. Punctuality is no longer a big problem for me. I always come before 8AM. I have to meet deadlines and have met them well when I was given an article to write. I work well and I give my best in whatever task given. I do whatever it takes for self-improvement because there is more to learn. And, I’m learning a lot actually. I want to open myself up to acquiring more knowledge. I am very self-motivated in my work. I’ve been courteous. I greet everyone I meet with a smile. When I don’t know something, I ask. Asking is really important. It saves me time from guessing. Hopefully, in the weeks to come, I’d be better than who I am right now.
C. Other thoughts regarding the OJT experience.
I’m still following up my TOR. It is a week of deadlines for them all. Everyone is really busy. Hopefully, by next week, it would be okay.

Lim: Week 3 at Peace Works
10:45, “Passion plus hard work sums up to success” --- the very words I try to live by in journalism.
It was a usual Monday morning that I receive my assigned topic/s for the week. My usual strategy starts with some research regarding my assigned topic. For this 3rd week, I was assigned with an article concerning my school. It had something to do with AdZU’s involvement in the peace process in Mindanao so I researched about it and the Ateneo Peace Institute. The research was done to give me an idea of how the flow of my interview would go. The internet helped a lot and in fact it was the only source of my background regarding my interview/subject. The people I happen to ask couldn’t give me any information and the printed information were exactly the same as those found in the internet. With the information at hand, I did an outline of my article then formulated some interview questions.
I did my interview on a Tuesday and got some useful information. The background and activities of the peace process project were completely sourced out of that interview. I could say it was the best interviewee I have interviewed so far. Mr. MaƱego even gave me a lot of references which also helped me.
All the information I needed was already with me but I don’t know… I just couldn’t write well. It’s just that it’s not every day that I have the sense for writing, I didn’t feel writing. I remember, it was 15 minutes before 11, in the middle of my struggle of organizing words, I said to myself, I’m trying to love writing cause I believe that one will succeed if one loves what s/he is doing. So I did my best to overcome that laziness, as I call it. The article was done ahead of time but I received no comments from Sir Rey.
Saturday, our scheduled meeting, Sir Rey told us he wasn’t able to check the emails due to internet server connection problem. He asked me to rewrite my article, as I have expected. I know when I write a satisfying article or not and I know my 3rd week’s article was not the satisfying one. That evening I finished writing over the article.
I’m really not into writing but I do try to write at least satisfying articles. Even though, time comes that I just couldn’t write. I guess the only way for me to overcome this is to appreciate the essence of the job.
I do write but it’s often on the literary side where I wouldn’t even allow people to read it. Now, I have to get out of my shell and do some renovations in my writing. Why/ it will help me in my chosen field.

Miranda: Final Week at Manila Times
A. List down all the tasks that you performed during this period. Describe each in detail.
•I thought April 27 was just another of my usual days in the office doing the proofreading of the different sections of the Manila Times newspapers, until our editor, Sir Klink approached me and gave me my next assignment. He received a press release about the 2nd year of enforced disappearance of the activist Jonas Burgos. Sir Klink told me to attend the celebratory mass the family would hold the following day in front of Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City. He gave me the deadline on the 28th in the afternoon. First things first. I asked for contacts. I browsed through the net, looked for archives that could help me have my background of the abduction story. I called the family of Jonas Burgos to confirm the details of the mass the following day. After doing the first step of gathering information, I went back to my work as a proofreader. I got excited for my task the following day.
• April 28 made me witness just some of the harsh realities of life. One—people get kidnapped and attain no justice even after a decade or two. Two—the government chooses whom to respect with its own reasons. I went to Camp Aguinaldo, where it was just a 10-minute away from my relatives’ place, and asked around for the exact location of the mass. I was able to get inside the Camp Aguinaldo. So that was the very place I usually see on TV. The Manila Times photographers also came. The mass was held just outside the gate one of the camp. There I met the teary-eyed yet hopeful Edita Burgos, the mother of the two-year missing activist, the siblings and other families of other missing activists. The mass began with offering palay to the relatives and friends of Jonas Burgos. Accordingly, the palay symbolizes Jonas as a living thing that needs to be planted in order to grow. Before proceeding with the mass, the military officers inside the Camp Aguinaldo played “loud disco noise” outside the gate to disrupt the on-going mass. Fr. Robert Reyes, the officiating priest, humbly approached the officers guarding the gate and requested to tone down the noise. The response was cruel. I could really say that what I see on TV, when people having a rally or a peaceful rally mass and military officers driving them away in an unjust manner, is really happening right before my eyes. The media men and reporters were challenged by these officers by bumping the latter’s helmets to the cameras of the former. The priest continued the mass with the very loud noise. After the mass, press releases were distributed to the media. I got the chance to interview the family, friends and supporters of Jonas Burgos. I asked about any developments of the cases filed, any signs of the missing activists, plans, and feelings. I finished witnessing the whole activity around noontime. I went home to do my story. I started writing at 1:30 p.m. and ended at 3. I was able to beat the deadline. After submitting it through e-mail, I reported to the office and did my work as a proofreader.
• April 29 was another great day for me. A goal attained. The story I made about the missing activist got published on the front page. The articles can actually be read online. The site is www.manilatimes.net. I reported to the office and did my work as a proofreader of Life and Times, Business page 3, World and partly on Sports sections.
• April 30, May 1, 2, 3 and 4 were just some of the days that made me a better me. I got used to my work as a proofreader. I like it very much when I have lots of editing to do. My mind eagerly works. I approached editors, let them check the final output before the sections would be put to bed, and I received “thank yous” at the end of the day., sometimes even snacks. Well, I just did my job. The only difference is, I have been putting my heart on it so I feel grateful having helped them in the making of the newspapers. I do not call it my job. It is a lifetime training for me.
B. Describe new skills you learned, or skills you improved upon as a result of these tasks. Be specific.
• The experience of getting involved in prayer rallies like the one of Jonas Burgos is worth treasuring for a lifetime. I am simply grateful for being sent there. Lessons keep coming my way. One, it made me witness the reality of realities. Abductions are happening all over the country with reasons yet unclear. Justice is not an easy word. Or it is only a word, a dead word, never a reality in the eyes of the oppressed. The government pays no respect to the plea of the exploited, hurt and abandoned. The playing of the loud noise says it all. Two, I may appear professional when doing my work, but my heart really feels for them and my eyes could never hide my share of sorrow for the family. It was kind of awkward when I did the interview with the mother and I shed a tear or two in front of her. She gave me a hug! The siblings of the missing activist also shared their angst to the government’s system and delayed justice. They shared how still fortunate they are to raise their voices to the public for justices. Some families would remain quiet. When the interview became lighter, I told them I am a student trainee from Ateneo de Zamboanga University. One of the siblings even jokingly told me that she indeed recognized that I am just new in this field for I still shed tears. This experience made me realize that I should be strong, appear strong and sound strong when working in the field with these kinds of situation. There may be this what I call “biases of a reporter” when emotions are visible, but keeping them to myself during work would also help me focus more on the story’s story and not on the personal feelings I feel for them. It may take time and experience to overcome this. But this chance made me realize this early.
• My role in the office as a proofreader made me think more technically when reading newspapers or any reading materials. The stylebook given to me, the training I received from my supervisor and colleagues, and the constant reading made me discover flaws easily. As I have been doing my job for the last four weeks, I realized I am more equipped with knowledge about the technicalities of words, facts, placements of text in newspapers. It may also include the speed of spotting errors. I know my world would not just end in proofreading, but I realized that starting out from the very basic is the steppingstone to the next level of bigger opportunities.
C. Other thoughts regarding the OJT experience.
• I will never forget this. I will never forget here, the people, the paper, the training, and the lessons which in one way or another, made me a better masscom student trainee and hopefully will make me a promising professional someday. This on-the-job training was both easy and hard for me. It was hard because I started with great adjustments. Since I am not from here, I adjusted with the place, the stress of travelling far, the fast-paced lifestyle, the people, and the work. As I lived each day one step at a time, keeping my goals in mind, I never lost track. I managed to cope with all those adjustments. My flexibility helps me win smiles and the people’s trust. On the other hand, it was easy because everything I did, I did it with dedication and enthusiasm. For me, everything that was given to me—sections to be edited, assignments outside the field, stories to be passed on time—was an opportunity for me to grow maturely in the field which I love most—journalism. This has been a very life-enriching experience. I would go home with a success spelled in my heart. I thank the people who believe in me. And I thank myself for having survived this.

De Leon: Week 3 at Peace Works
1. List down all the tasks that you performed during this period. Describe each in detail.
April 27, 2009
9:00 AM
I called the office of the General Services Division to settle the schedule of interview with the head of maintenance and landscaping division. I talked to Engr. Wenceslao and had it scheduled at 1:30 in the afternoon. I also made a follow-up call to the city tourism office and got no positive update regarding the information that I seek.
April 27, 2009
1:20 PM
We started the interview on time. I got there minutes before the schedule and still had the chance to review my questions and chitchat with Engr. Wenceslao. We ended at two in the afternoon and I went back to school to check with the research center if there are local studies regarding benefits of recreation or participation of ZamboangueƱos to the local communities through public spots. Unfortunately, there was none.
The entire afternoon, I tried to get in touch with the tourism office and was asked to give follow-up calls. Still, at the end of the day they gave me nothing but false hopes.
That afternoon too, I contacted the band leader of Comic Relief through my brother. I got Zack’s number (the leader) and set an appointment with him. Fortunately, he was on his way to the studio, near the school and he told me that we can just meet that very day. So, I went to the recording studio and asked him when we can have the interview with the other members of the band. We exchanged numbers and agreed that he’ll just confirm the time, but most probably in the evening the next day.
April 27, 2009
5:00 PM
I was with my friend and we decided to hang-out at Boulevard as we commonly do when we have time. At the same time, it was a good thing because it is related to the story that I am writing. I tried talking to some people and ask them about going to the place, their reasons and how often they do. Some would hesitate to give answers, others don’t respond, while others just give very brief response. But most of them, would give the same common answers. There, I saw some friends, met some tourists from Baguio and Cebu. And encountered different kinds of people, professionals, young ones, families, lovers, Muslims, Christians, mixed.
April 28, 2009
5:00 PM
I had nothing to do. No scheduled appointments, no interviews. So I decided to go to Jardin Maria Clara with my friend, and just hang-out and see if there is anything that I can get to contribute to my story. We went home with some photos that I took. Then, I was expecting that the interview with Comic Relief will pursue at 8:00 in the evening but Zack informed me that they have other engagements that night. I was lucky that he was kind enough; he even brought a copy of the band’s history in our house. We agreed to have the interview the following day, Wednesday at 8:00 in the evening.
April 29, 2009
8:00 PM
At MadMedia Works Studio, I met with four of the band members and had the interview. We started at around 8:30 and ended past ten. When I arrived home, I reviewed my notes and got other necessary information from the recorded interview.
April 30, 2009
11:00 AM
I started writing down the article about the local bands. I had so many information and it took me a long time to select the information that I need. I ended at around six in the evening, with breaks of course. And finally, I finished writing the story.
May 2, 2009
I was not able to write the story on the public parks immediately because I was confused and lost on how I will do the story. Aside from the informal interviews I had with some people with not so very useful information, I only have the information from Engr. Wenceslao and the online information I got. Then I tried to make the story out of the only resources that I had.
2. Describe new skills you learned, or skills you improved upon as a result of these tasks. Be specific.
* Back to basics – INFORMATION SELECTION. The article regarding the local bands was something I thought at first would be easy to do. I told myself that I am very familiar with the topic. Thus, it would be an easy thing after the interview. However, the one and a half hour interview was full of much information that I was so confused which ones to include in my story. Then I got back to my notes, the guide questions that I need in completing the story and the angle that I need to emphasize. It was still not that easy but it helped a lot.
* The previous interviews I had were mostly one on one interview. The one I had with the band was a different case. There were four of them, four loud and humorous boys who give different answers for every question and sometimes even go beyond the topic that I raised. HANDLING AN INTERVIEW is really a tough task. I thought that talking with people that I already know for a long time is easier. But doing an interview with friends of my brother who I have been seeing since I was in high school was a BIG CHALLENGE. While someone is talking, the other one is singing or playing guitar or hitting the drums or talking with the others. I understand that they were very comfortable with the situation because it was me, Mark’s sister, whom they were talking to. And every time they get carried away and share things that go beyond the question that I ask, I see to it that I redirect them to the right track without leaving them with a bad feeling.
* SAVING TIME in terms of transcribing interviews was one thing that I realized was very important. I have been used to listening to the entire interview before going on with my story. Listening to the entire interview actually gives you the privilege to review all the information that you have. But jotting down the most important notes during the interview and just listening to those parts saves a LOT OF TIME. This worked for me when I was doing the feature on the city’s public parks. It was just a thirty-minute interview and I had the chance to really write down the most important things while Engr. Wenceslao was talking and it did not take me a long time to review my interview file because I had already listed the necessary information that I need.
3. Other thoughts regarding the OJT experience.
This week seems to be a not so good week for me. The delayed feature on the public parks was not anymore that easy to do. I don’t understand why, but it took me a very long time to finalize my story and maybe it is also because I felt that I had no enough resources to make up a good feature on the topic. But I still tried, although it was already submitted late.
Regarding the other story, at first I really thought that it would be bias if I would write a story that focuses on the Band Comic Relief because my bother is one of the band members. But then I thought that I would write not in the cause of promoting the band.

Barredo: Week #2 at MYX Magazine
A. List down all the tasks that you performed during this period. Describe each in detail.
My second week started with a bang. I could not find my Daily Time Record (DTR) on the reception area. Then the guard on-duty told me that I have to see Ms. Kristel for some notifications.
Anyway, I submitted my assignment for the weekend. I was tasked to search for album covers for the MYXed section of the magazine. Then, Ms. Zsaris taught me how to operate their scanner.
Accordingly, I will be using it for scanning the album covers for the MYX Beat. The CDs came from the record company that is why I really have to scan them.
I already have the chance to finally utilize my compromised CD archive. I was given the job to look for pictures for the MYXellaneous department and also for the MYX Summer Fest feature. It was not difficult but it was also not easy. There were a lot of pictures to choose from and I had to trust my own judgment to choose good pictures. I remember Ms. Zsaris advise that in choosing good shots, I have to look not only at the picture’s angle but also at its photo content, something that says a lot so that we can give them good captions too. And good thing I had a good photojournalism class back in my first semester during my sophomore year.
This week, I was able to make a fine checklist for the texts and pictures needed for the staff to complete. It will be very helpful for us because through this checklist, we will be able to identify the things that still needs follow-up and the things that are already OK.
The recent issue of MYX Magazine, the April-May 2009 issue, was already out last week. The staff is expecting the complimentary copies this week. These copies will be sent out to the personalities or artists featured in this magazine’s issue. When the copies arrived, Ms. Zsaris asked me to fill up a number of Job Request Forms.
Then, I could say that one of the most exciting events during the duration of my internship was the Radio Tour on Friday, 24th of April. I and Ms. Klara, together with Sarah (from the marketing department) and Sir Calde (Marketing officer and bassist of the OPM band, Chicosci), went to two different radio stations in Manila. Our first stop was 107.5 NU (Home of NU Rock) where I met DJ/VJ Monica. It was located in Ortigas. The talk lasted for almost an hour. Our next destination was 99.5 RT (RhyThm of the City). The whole tour was fun and fine. I was actually grateful that I had this opportunity because I got to meet different people and go to different places.
B. Describe new skills you learned, or skills you improved upon as a result of these tasks. Be specific.
My learning this week varies from the stuffs I have learned in simple things from the lessons I get through the casual talks that I have with the staff.
Now, I know how to use the scanner. It was very helpful especially to me. Because of this facility, I was able to send urgent documents.
The checklist I made did not only help the magazine staff but it also improved my means/sense of organization. Since they gave me the freedom to lay-out it, I am the one who knows each detail of it.
Majority of my work this week was to choose good pictures for the different sections and features in the magazine. I could say that I was really able to apply the picture judgment skills and theories that I have acquired during my Photojournalism class with Ma’am Sandy. Though I am not the one who took the pictures, I was the one given the task to pick out picture-worthy ones for the magazine’s next issue specifically for the MYX Summer Fest special and the MYXellaneous section.
As an addition, Ms. Zsaris disclosed that pictures of foreign artists that we are going to use in the magazine are gotten with permission from the record label. However, the local ones, as much as possible, must come from the MYX archives so that these pictures will not be seen in other magazines. Also, so that the magazine will have ownership in each picture used in every issue.
I have mentioned in my report during the first week that I will be writing a review for a particular album for the MYXed section. I submitted it just this week and I could say that I am satisfied with my work. I wanted to present a whole new approach in writing a review for MYXed. It is a regular portion in the magazine so somehow, I wanted to give it a new touch. I actually risked and experimented considering that this is my first time to write a review for a particular album. I am not sure if I have given justice to the album but I am sure that I did the necessary first before writing—research. I also read past reviews to get a glimpse of their writing style when it comes to reviews.
I have learned before that there is a hip relationship between the advertising and the magazine industry. That is why many transactions and negotiations can be done with these two industries involved. Accordingly, you can buy magazine covers and feature the artist of the company’s choice. You can also apply product placement and company naming on the cover, in one of the pages, or at an article. But accordingly, writers do not present this as an advertorial to also maintain the reputation of the magazine.
I have also heard and witnessed the PR side of magazine production this week. They submitted jpeg files to the online team and on the music channel personnel to promote the latest issue of MYX Mag. MYX VJs and different radio station DJs promoted the magazine on air. The MYX Mag is advertised in the MYX Channel. The radio tour that we had was also part of the PR.
C. Other thoughts regarding the OJT experience.
My second week started with a bang. I could not find my Daily Time Record (DTR) on the reception area. Then the guard on-duty told me that I have to see Ms. Kristel for some notifications.
Allow me to further this story.
Accordingly, I lack three company requirements—endorsement letter, certificate of good moral character, evaluation form, and also the signed ABS-CBN Publishing Inc. OJT Terms & Conditions. Ms. Kristel disclosed that I would not be able to proceed with my internship if I will not be able to complete my requirements on or before Wednesday.
I have mentioned before that I already sensed that something was not right and I think this is already it. I immediately contacted one of my classmates to ask for help and, of course, the OJT coordinator. This was where the use of a scanner was really helpful (partly because I do not know how to use the fax and nobody was there to help me at that time).
Thank the heavens, I was able to complete my requirements by Wednesday. Actually, I really do not know what would happen if was not able to do so.
So, the journey of my internship continues.
This week, I went with Ms.Zsaris again with her work at the MYX.tv. This time the live chat featured the local band, Paraluman. I was really glad that I have this opportunity to meet OPM bands since I am an OPM fan. I support Original Pilipino Music!
I started the week with a bang. I also ended it with a bang. I attended the Earth Jam 2009 held at Tomas Morato just in the vicinity. Various artists performed during that event. I am glad and very fortunate to attend a free concert dedicated to the people’s love and care for our mother earth.
